The Archaeological Survey of India continued their non-invasive scientific survey within the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi to determine if the mosque was built upon a pre-existing structure. Located near the Kashi Vishwanath temple, this is the third day of the survey. The survey is part of a long-standing legal battle over the site's ownership with a Hindu group, whose plea to reclaim the land is currently under consideration by the courts. Hindu lawyers have claimed that only fragments of an idol, not the entire structure, were found during an archaeological survey of the site of a 16th-century mosque in India. The survey is part of an ongoing legal battle over the site between Muslims and Hindus.
