Chipmaker Qualcomm Inc. has recently claimed it’s partnering with Iridium Communications Inc. to bring in satellite-based messaging for high-end Android smartphones. It will allow them to communicate without having WiFi-based internet connectivity. The companies have also informed us that the new technology has several potential use cases, including enabling SOS services, SMS texts, and other low-bandwidth messaging applications.
