The Supreme Court expressed concern over intervening in the political dispute between the two factions of the Shivsena party. It asked the Thackeray faction how it could reinstate a Chief Minister without him facing any election. The bench requested the party to put forth their arguments in detail to explain their stand on the matter. The CJI asked if Dr. Singhvi sought to reinstate anyone, to which he responded negatively. He clarified that he only wanted to restore the status quo ante. The CJI noted this and requested both parties to work out a solution in agreement.
