Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has denied rumors that he plans to step down in favor of his deputy, Ajit Pawar. Speculation had been mounting amid infighting within the ruling Nationalist Congress Party. Shinde stated that he would remain in the position as long as he had the backing of his party. However, the NCP remains divided over internal leadership, with some members calling for a change in direction and others backing the current leadership. Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule stated on Wednesday that opposition parties were causing confusion over the chief ministership of Eknath Shinde. He added that Shinde would remain as the CM of the state.
