The Supreme Court has asked the West Bengal government to explain its ban on controversial movie 'The Kerala Story' in the state, while the film is being screened elsewhere in the country. A bench consisting of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha had asked for clarification from the government. The Supreme Court has taken notice of the security situation in theatres screening the film 'Master' and has asked the Tamil Nadu government to specify all measures taken to provide security. The film has faced protests and calls for a ban from the political party, PMK, due to its depiction of violence in the context of student politics. The court has scheduled a hearing on January 25th to further examine the issue.
