Ravi Shastri compared the situation between the WTC finals

Ravi Shastri, the former Indian team coach, has likened the 2021 and 2023 World Test Championship finals to “chalk and cheese,” highlighting the stark contrast between the two. Shastri acknowledged the pain of India’s loss to New Zealand in the last final, and the effect it had on the team, attributing the defeat to a strong New Zealand side. Indian cricket coach Ravi Shastri and former Australian captain Ricky Ponting believe that the Indian team, having had IPL game-time, is better prepared for the World Test Championship final starting on June 23. They also suggest that the pitch at the Oval where the match will be held, will remain fresher than usual due to the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in reduced cricket in the last year.
