A plea has been submitted to the Indian Supreme Court requesting that the release of the movie The Kerala Story be prevented, alleging that the film promotes hate speech. The plea was put forward by advocate Nizam Pasha, who asked for it to be urgently listed before Justices KM Joseph and BV Nagarathna. Justice Joseph has ruled that a case challenging the certification of a movie by India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cannot be treated as an interim application in an ongoing case. The ruling stated that the matter involves a statutory authority, meaning that a separate application must be made concerning this issue. The case has been brought against the CBFC by a filmmaker who has claimed that the board is acting arbitrarily and that the certification process needs to be made more transparent
