Mizoram BJP demanding a President’s Rule in strife-torn Manipur

The BJP unit in Mizoram has called for President's Rule to be imposed in neighbouring state Manipur, citing the need for peace after ethnic violence erupted in the state on May 3. Over 100 people have been killed in the clashes. The BJP Scheduled Tribe Morcha has blamed Manipur's government for the recent ethnic violence and wants President's Rule imposed to restore peace, prompting the dissolution of the state government. N. Biren Singh is leading the government in Manipur. A total of 106 tribal people have died in an ethnic clash between the Meitei and Kuki communities in India, according to the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum.
