The Supreme Court of India has put off its verdict in a case where the Delhi Government challenged the appointment of ten aldermen by the LG of Delhi to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) without the aid and advice of the Delhi government's cabinet. The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi Government had petitioned the Supreme Court to question the appointment process. The Indian Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, along with Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala, opined that nomination of certain aldermen could destabilize the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, as they hold voting power. This statement was made during a hearing. The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi is required to follow the decisions made by the Council of Ministers and may only refer any disagreements to the President for resolution
