The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has filed a complaint with the Election Commission over comments made by former Congress President Sonia Gandhi regarding the "sovereignty of Karnataka". The remarks have reportedly caused a political furore ahead of the upcoming assembly election in Karnataka. The BJP has accused Gandhi of trying to create a "false sense of insecurity" among the people of the state. Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of Indian National Congress party, addressed a rally in Hubbali district of Karnataka on Saturday. The Congress official Twitter handle posted that she sent a strong message to 6.5 crore Kannadigas. This statement sparked political turmoil, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders criticizing Gandhi. Karnataka is scheduled to hold state assembly elections soon, and political leaders are intensifying their campaigns.
