Israelis protesting against the government’s proposed judicial reforms

 

In response to protests and a general strike, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to pause his efforts to reform the judicial system and instead seek compromise. He emphasized that efforts towards a resolution are underway, raising hopes of a peaceful resolution. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Saturday that he had ordered a "timeout" on a controversial government-backed legislative proposal that could alter workers' rights until the Knesset's recess ends. He called for protests to restrain violence and promised honest dialogue. Thousands of Israelis had taken to the streets to protest the reforms.
