India and US settles a six WTO disputes

India and the US have reached an agreement to settle six trade disputes at the World Trade Organisation. India has also agreed to remove retaliatory customs duties on 28 American goods like almonds, walnuts, and apples. This decision is expected to boost trade between the two countries. India has imposed customs duties on 28 US products including chickpeas, lentils, almonds, and apples, following the US decision to impose import tariffs on Indian steel and aluminium products in 2018. The tariffs were introduced on the grounds of US national security. The retaliation by India could affect $240m worth of US exports. India is among several countries including Canada, Mexico, and the EU, challenging the US tariffs at the World Trade Organization.
