Gujarat has been hit by monsoonal rains and floods for over a week, causing chaos in the state. On Wednesday, a car became trapped in a waterlogged underpass in the town of Nadiad, highlighting the extent of the problem. Four occupants were rescued by the fire brigade in Gujarat after a building collapsed due to heavy rainfall. They escaped largely unscathed, but the state is expected to face more incessant rainfall in the coming days. Copious downpours are expected over western Indian states until July 10 due to monsoonal winds and an off-shore trough between the South Gujarat coast and the North Kerala coast. The India Meteorological Department forecasts light or moderate widespread rainfall during this period.
