Gita Press has been conferred with the Gandhi Peace Prize for its outstanding contribution towards social, economic, and political transformation through non-violent and other Gandhian means. The decision was taken by a jury headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after due deliberations on Sunday. The publishing house has been recognized for promoting Gandhian values and philosophical teachings through its various publications. The Gandhi Peace Prize is an annual award instituted by the Government of India in 1995 as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
