Dhanush couldn’t save a middling education drama from killing its own potential

In Venky Atluri's Vaathi (or SIR in Telugu), there is a pervasive pattern of a shadow across the film. The story begins somberly in 2022 with three boys finding a box of video cassettes. As they watch the video, we glimpse Dhanush from behind, writing some trigonometry sums on a blackboard for just half a Second. The cassettes lead the boys to a District Collector's office, where Dhanush is seen looking directly at the viewers from a picture on the wall.
