The Transport department has warned Bike taxis that their use on the roads of Delhi is a breach of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and carries a fine of Rs 1 lakh for those who arrange them. The Act prohibits using two-wheelers for Commercial purposes, with a First-time offense punishable by a fine of Rs 5,000, a Second offense carrying a Rs 10,000 fine, and possible imprisonment for up to a year. The Driver will also have their license revoked for three months.
