China's Stern warning given to Taiwan as Military Drills with Warships and Jets

The People's Liberation Army's Eastern Theatre Command announced it would conduct a three-day military exercise near Taiwan from Saturday. The drills come a day after Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen returned from her trip to the US. The exercise aims further to demonstrate China’s sovereignty over the self-ruled island and counter any attempts at independence. It also serves as a warning to foreign nations to stay out of internal affairs in the region. China announced that its military would conduct “combat readiness patrols” and exercises in the Taiwan Strait and beyond. The patrols and exercises will cover areas east, south, and north of the country, but no further details were given.
