According to the official data, China's population declined in 2023. It declined after more than six decades of growth. The biggest reason behind the decline is a looming demographic crisis. In 2022, the population was 1,400.12 million; there was a decrease of 2.08 million at the end of 2022, as stated on Wednesday by Beijing's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
