Children of lesbian and gay parents need not necessarily become in the category of lesbians and gays

The Chief Justice questioned the government’s concern and asserted that growing up with lesbian or gay parents does not necessarily mean that the child would grow up to be the same, emphasizing that sexual orientation is an individual’s choice. He further emphasized that the main concern should be the child's welfare and protecting his/her rights. Parliament will have to debate whether the lack of a father and a mother figure affects the psychology of a child raised by two men or two women. The psychological effects in such cases will need to be examined so an informed decision can be made. The Parliament must decide what is best for the child and society.
