The BJP has released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections. The list includes 189 candidates, with 52 new faces and 90 sitting MLAs. The party has retained 11 MLAs who left Congress and JDS in 2019 to support the BJP. The elections will take place on May 10 to elect the 224-member House. The BJP in Karnataka has introduced 12 new candidates for constituencies won by its MLAs in 2018, including B Y Vijayendra for the Shikaripura seat. Vijayendra is the son of former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa. The party has also fielded Siddharth Singh, the son of MLA Anand Singh, who defected from the Congress in 2019.
