Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee has criticized the Indian government after his wife and children were prevented from boarding a flight to Dubai at Kolkata's airport on Monday. In a statement, Banerjee condemned what he described as a "vindictive mindset and political vendetta" and claimed that the government was targeting him because of his affiliation with the TMC party. The central government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party, and the TMC have been engaged in a public feud for years. Rujira Narula Banerjee, the wife of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew, was prevented from boarding a flight to Dubai on 22 February in connection with the Bengal coal smuggling scam.
