The court-ordered scientific survey of Gyanvapi mosque complex in Varanasi began on Friday morning amid tight security arrangements. However, the caretaker of the mosque, the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid committee, did not participate in the survey. The mosque committee has declined to participate in a survey conducted by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) due to their intention to appeal Thursday's Allahabad High Court order to the Supreme Court on Friday. Heavy police force was deployed around Kashi Vishwanath temple and Gyanvapi mosque as 40 Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials conducted a survey at the mosque. The survey was temporarily halted for Friday prayers.
