Over the period of 2019 to 2021, more than 13.13 lakh girls and women were reported missing in India. Madhya Pradesh recorded the highest number of cases, with nearly two lakhs, followed by West Bengal. This data was recently presented by the Ministry of Home Ministry (MHA) in the Rajya Sabha. The highest number of missing women and girls in India between 2019 and 2021 was recorded in Delhi, with 61,054 women and 22,919 girls reported missing. In Jammu and Kashmir, 8,617 women and 1,148 girls were reported missing during the same period. The Indian government has acknowledged the issue and taken numerous steps to address it.
