Meghalayan groups defy the restrictions and hit the streets to protest

Five pressure groups from Meghalaya had defied the orders by restricting and gathering with four or more people hitting the streets in the State Capital Shillong for launching a mission to “save” the Hynniewtrep people. On October 31, the East Khasi Hills district authority also imposed Section 144 at Shillong while adjoining areas prohibiting large gatherings. This was also in connection with its targeted violence, mainly against non-tribal people, while having a rally by a tribal organization on October 28.
